Do I need to book a table?
We don't take reservations. It's first-come, first-served, and on busy Saturday mornings the wait for a seat can be ten or fifteen minutes. The window bench tends to free up faster than the main tables. If you're coming in a group of more than four, a quick email ahead is appreciated so we can plan the space.
How long does a sourdough loaf last and can I pre-order?
The loaves are baked Thursday and Friday mornings and are best within two days, though they toast well for a day or two after that. Pre-orders are taken by Wednesday noon by email or phone. We can't always guarantee a loaf if you turn up without ordering, especially the rye-wheat blend, which tends to go first.
Is there parking nearby?
There's parking on the market square directly outside. It's free before 9am and after 4pm on weekdays, and free all day on Sundays. On Saturdays the square gets busy from about 9:30 when the market sets up, so arriving early is worth it.
Do you have anything for people who don't drink coffee?
Yes. We have loose-leaf teas from a supplier in Derbyshire, a rotating seasonal hot chocolate, and a house-made oat milk chai that goes on the menu in autumn and winter. Cold drinks in summer include a house lemonade and a couple of soft options.
Can I bring my dog inside?
Dogs are welcome inside as long as they're happy to settle. We have a water bowl by the door and a couple of the regulars bring their dogs most mornings. If it's busy and your dog needs a bit of space, the bench outside works well too.
